We are proud to announce that as of July 2025, the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel (ISTAP) has officially reached 5,000 members worldwide.
This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of our members who have championed ISTAP’s vision through education, research, advocacy, and collaboration across continents. Thank you for helping us grow this important movement and for supporting our goal of a world without skin tears.

About ISTAP
The International Skin Tear Advisory Panel (ISTAP) raises global awareness of skin tear prediction, assessment, prevention, and management through a multidisciplinary panel of healthcare professionals representing Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and North America.
Our mission is to improve outcomes for individuals at risk of or experiencing skin tears by advancing education, research, and advocacy — all in pursuit of our vision of “a world without skin tears.”
Why We’re Needed
Skin tears are a common and often painful type of wound that affects people across all ages and healthcare settings. While largely preventable, skin tears continue to be under-recognized and under-managed in many parts of the world. ISTAP exists to change that — by providing global leadership and best practices to support health care professionals and caregivers in their daily practice.
