Mary Gloeckner

Mary Gloeckner has been a Wound/Ostomy Nurse Specialist for 47 years, completing her ET/WOCN education at MD Anderson, Houston, Texas in 1976. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa in 1975, and her Master’s in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin in 1979. Mary was the first Wound/Ostomy Clinical Nurse Specialist at the University of Iowa and also at UnityPoint Trinity, where she currently works. She has been a member of the WOCN Society, WCET, and Friends of Ostomates throughout her career. Mary was a founding member of ISTAP (International Skin Tear Advisory Panel) and served on the board from 2011 - 2021. She was awarded the “WOC Nurse of the Year” award in June, 2016 by the United Ostomy Association of America.
