Paula De Souza Silva Freitas is a Registered Nurse and Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing at the Health Sciences Center, Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), Vitória, Brazil. She is a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program in Nursing (PPGENF/UFES), within the research line Organization and Evaluation of Health Care Systems.
She holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Public Health, with an emphasis on Health Policy and Management, from the Federal University of Espírito Santo. Her postgraduate qualifications include Stomatherapy, Dermatological Nursing, Cardiovascular Nursing, Quality Management, Health Plan Management, Nursing Audit, Teaching of the Nursing Process, and Mediation of Educational Processes in Digital Environments.
She is a researcher at CuidarTech – Nursing Technology Laboratory, where she develops research in management and technologies applied to complex wound care, evidence-based practice in the management of skin injuries, nursing documentation, and patient health records.
Her academic and scientific work focuses on the prevention and management of healthcare-associated and potentially preventable skin injuries, including skin tears, as well as on the development and evaluation of technologies and strategies aimed at improving stomatherapy care. She develops and implements evidence-based technical and scientific products using Knowledge Translation and Implementation Science frameworks to bridge the gap between research evidence and clinical practice, healthcare processes, and quality improvement in health services.
