Dr. Mily Constanza Moreno Ramos
PhD, MsC, ETN, RN
Regional Director Latin America - Spanish
I am a nurse from Bogotá specialized in Enterostomal Therapy, with a Master’s and PhD in Nursing Science from the University of São Paulo School of Nursing. During my doctoral studies, I conducted the first randomized clinical trial in Latin America comparing the effects of liquid and bar soap on neonatal skin, contributing evidence to neonatal skin care practices in the region.
My professional experience includes working as a nurse in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Colombia and later as an Enterostomal Therapist at a specialized center for advanced wound and skin lesion treatment in Brazil. These experiences strengthened my interest in prevention and management of skin injuries in vulnerable populations, particularly neonates and children.
I am actively involved in scientific and academic activities, serving as a reviewer for international scientific journals and consensus documents, including Best Practice Recommendations for Prevention and Management of Periwound Skin Complications (Wounds International, 2021). I also work as a professor in specialization programs in Stomatherapy in Brazil and Colombia, in addition to undergraduate nursing education.
My research focuses on prevention of skin injuries in neonates and children, as well as adaptation and validation of instruments related to skin injury prevention and classification. I am also an active member of the Latin American Multidisciplinary Confederation in Wounds, Ostomies, and Incontinence, where I support scientific collaboration and professional development across Latin America.
I believe my international perspective, commitment to evidence-based practice, dedication to education, and active engagement in research and clinical practice would allow me to contribute meaningfully to the mission and global initiatives of the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel.
