Regional Director North America - USA

Dr. Laura Swoboda is a translational scientist, family nurse practitioner, and wound specialist at Third Coast Vascular as well as professor of nursing at Carthage College in southeastern Wisconsin. Dr. Swoboda is a health care leader serving as president-elect of the Milwaukee Metro Nurse Practitioner Association, treasurer for the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care, and on the board of directors for the SALSAL, as well as various committees for the NPIAP, Wound Healing Society, WCCC, Alliance of Wound Care Stakeholders, and the American Heart Association.

As a North American nurse practitioner and translational scientist, Dr. Swoboda will bring a unique and valuable perspective to the ISTAP Board of Directors. NPs routinely work within multidisciplinary teams, fostering the kind of collaborative approach that is central to ISTAP's global panel of healthcare professionals. While skin tears are a global issue, healthcare systems, policies, and patient populations vary by region. A North American NP can contribute vital insights into the specific challenges, resources, and opportunities within the North American healthcare landscape, ensuring that ISTAP's recommendations and initiatives are culturally competent and practically applicable.
